(sound)…

There are worlds within the slamming of a door, a chattering couple strolling the streets, the relentless whir of air conditioners as they spit on your forehead – rhythms, patterns, histories and narratives intricately woven beneath the surface. These worlds envelop us, they are the soundscapes and choreography of our daily lives. Open your ears, let your imagination soar and be sure – your senses will prickle as you reach into another universe.

Sound Design created for visual artists, art installations, film, dance, theatre, live art, radio & meditation. Aural landscapes composed of human voices, the noises of our world and instruments tell personal, cinematic stories about everyday life. In her previous life as an arts journalist and radio documentary maker in Australasia, Camilla developed a great love of storytelling, the cinema of sound and power of the imagination. Camilla’s soundscapes have cultural and contemporary resonance and unravel the beauty in the ordinary.

The reason for the brackets around the sound…

Camilla spent  almost 15 years working professionally with sound design. Though it features in her work and she still dabbles – her professional sound design side is on hiatus – for now. Though she has an audio blog – Aural Us.

Ginger In Orange. Logo     – a rich collaboration & adventure, London 2006 – 2009.

Fascinated by the collision of the classical and experimental, the composed and pedestrian, the choreographed and imporvised; musician, Christin Rauter and sound designer/dancer, Camilla Maling spliced sounds, music, movement and visuals into albums, performances, workshops and bespoke commissions. The hidden beauties of everyday life, in sound and flesh, were constant inspiration. What beauty lies so close! GingerInOrange. was their collaboration.
